*        Meeting minutes were sent out to the listserv

*        Motion was made by Sheri A. and all approved

 

Treasury Report

*        We have $1,334.07 in our account

*        Sara sent out a list of the members who paid to the list serve

*        If you want to vote at our state convention you must pay dues 

*        Motion was made by Amy and all approved

 

Presidential Release Recap

*         go Vote!!!

*        There are voting resources on the NFB webpage as well as a voting
survey that we are encouraged to fill out

*        Our Federation is partnering with Lyft to get voters to polling
places with a discount

*        There is an updated version of the NFB Newsline app and also has
functions of a KNFB reader 

*        Access affordability act is making progress in Congress

*        Vispero is partnering with NFB to give out a free version of Jaws
to any Blind parent or a parent of a Blind child

*        October 15th is white cane safety awareness day and we are
encouraged to post pictures of our white canes to social media

*        Vispero is partnering with NFB during the month of October to match
any donation up to$50,000

*        Everyone is encouraged to get on the   Pre-authorized Contribution
plan

 

Information on Voting in different Counties and general voting information
from Laura

*        Laura has sent out resources to the listserv

*        If you have any issues with your local voting please contact
Christina or our California president Tim

*        The last day to register to vote is October 19

*        Jim has also sent out a resource on accessible remote online voting

*        You can email your local county for a disability ballot 

*         At every voting center there should be an accessible voting
machine

 

Diversity and Inclusion Discussion

*        As a board we decided to have a multi-cultural holiday party at our
December meeting

*        The committee will meet and plan the party and are asking for
volunteers to help plan and present different cultural celebrations and
traditions

 

Discussion

*        LM is hosting our meet the blind month event on October 16 from 5-7
PM called Spice it up with the NFB SF Chapter

*        Our state convention will happen on October 22-25 and you must
register before October 15 to avoid the $25 registration fee  

*         There will be an email sent out with links to the full agenda and
how to join virtually

*        Sara has nominated Christina to be delegate and all approved
unanimously

*         Christina nominated Amy to be alternative delegate 

*         LM has made a motion   to have Christina and Amy as our delegates,
Jim second the motion, and all approved

*        Bobbi is putting together our gift basket and has declared it will
be called Shelter in Style

*        All donations are being made on Amazon and all are encouraged to
donate 

*        LM has made a motion to donate $250, Jim has second the motion, and
all approved

*        There will be a rookie roundup for our state convention on Monday
October 19 from 5-7 PM virtually 

*        There will also be a zoom training to get ready for our virtual
state convention on Tuesday

*        If you are a recent new member please stay on after the meeting so
we can collect your contact information 

 

Bell Ringers

*        Daveed is happy to be a part of the Berkeley Mutual Aid Network
that matches volunteers to help those in need of assistance during the
pandemic, has grown to a couple of thousand helping volunteers, and he is
one as well

*        Jim is happy to report that the bay Area Blind Community has
reached 150 calls, is really proud of how amazing the group has been to each
other, is looking for members to join, and will send out an invitation

 

Member Announcements

*        Sheri notes that during the month of October the Lighthouse
Adaptations store will be selling white canes for ten percent off

*        LM has sent out an email for the National Braille Pres A Million
Laugh for Lives event on October 15 and she will be hosting the event

*        Serena is having her 30% & Growing event on October 15 from 6-8 PM
and will have an Orientation & Mobility instructor as a guest speaker

*        Please stay on after if you are a new member
