* Sara- Oakland, treasurer, favorite Valentine's Day candy is red

* Ed- San Mateo, Blind, retired for twenty years, eighty-four years
old, lots of grandchildren, NFB member for fifty-four years, White , does
not eat sweets anymore
* Brian- Berkeley, he/him, blind, day job is leading the Lighthouse
for the Blind, favorite Valentine's candy is chocolate covered strawberries
* Cindy- Walnut Creek, she/her, visually impaired, consultant,
favorite Valentine's Day candy is anything chocolate especially dark
chocolate
* Jenny- recently moved, mom of two kids, employed, favorite
Valentine's Day candy is anything chocolate related especially dark
chocolate
* Monica- moved to Oakland in January from Minneapolis, blind,
queer, favorite Valentine's candy is wine as Valentine's Day means wine
* Jaime- San Ramon, she/her, blind, DSS instruction aid, part time,
favorite Valentine's candy is anything chocolate except dark chocolate
* Paul- Dublin,, he/him, legally blind, favorite Valentine's Day
candy is dark chocolate related
Secretary report
* January Meeting Minutes were sent out to the list serve
* Motion was made by Bobbi and all approved of secretary report
Treasurer Report
* As a total we currently have $818.88
* Ten dollars was contributed to the PAC plan
* Diversity Equity and Inclusion donation has been counted but not
added yet
* There are pending dues to be added and will be counted
Motion was made by Jaimeand all approved of Treasurer report
Presidential Release Recap
* This was the five hundred an thirteenth presidential release recap
* The National Federation of the blind is working with the White
House covid test to become more accessible, only found one of their tests to
be accessible
* Aira has partnered with us to assist any blind or low vision
individual with the covid test
* NFB put blind civil rights survey at top of the web page to
make it accessible, all members are encouraged to do the survey
* All chapters and members are encouraged to donate to the Pac plan
* The Blind driver challenge has been pushed back to the end of
march, the fastest blind folded driver to drive 201miles per hour, his
name is dan parker, and he is trying to break the record
* If you are a user of Lyft or Uber or service animal, NFB is
looking for stories and please reach out to Valerie

* All members are encouraged to check out the NFB news line with
information of covid test and new publications
* There is a student online auction tomorrow at 8 PM pacific
The National NFB convention at the moment is in person and will have more
details coming soon, president Riccobono is requiring covid vaccination card
to attend
Legislative Announcements
* There are four initiatives this year
The First one is access technology affordability act in house HR 431
senate s 212, tax education for technology That provides a 200-dollar
refundable tax credit over 3 years access to adaptive technology
The 2nd one is the non-medical device visual accessibility Act, in house
HR 4053 not in senate yet, allows any medical device to become accessible
The 3rd one is the 21st Century accessibility website and mobile
applications Act, there are no standards to what is accessible calls on
access board to define what accessibility means
The 4th one is the transformation to integrated employment act bill in
house and senate HR 2073 Senate S3238 , this bill allows blind individuals
to be paid equal to other workers
Announcements
* The National convention will take place from July 6 -10,
reserve your stay at the New Orleans Marriott, will have seminars during
the day with breakout sessions, first three days include board of directors
meeting, division meetings, general sessions, last part is the banquet,
there is more details online at nfb.org/convention
Discussion
* We will have elections for president, first vice president and
second vice president
* Christina will not be running for president again and is thanking
everyone
* Amy nominates Bobbi for president, Bobbi accepts, Amy made a
motion to move to cease nominations and vote by voice, Jaime second, all
approve
* Laura nominates Amy for first vice president, Amy accepts, Jaime
made a motion to cease nominations and move to vote by voice, Jaime second,
and all approve
* Bobbi nominates Christina for second vice president, Christina
accepts, Jaime made a motion to move to elections, Cindy second, all
approved, Sheri wins
Diversity Equity and Inclusion Discussion
* We will listen to a speech from Everly Harrison to celebrate black
history month
* Everly Harrison is a long time NFB member, very involved in the
civil rights, very fascinating woman, and will give us a ted talk
* Everyone enjoyed the speech, very powerful
Some Other Announcements while waiting for Diversity Equity and Inclusion
Discussion
* Jennie attended a workshop hosted by Tim Elder for TRX training,
was a great turnout, people of all disabilities including some in wheel
chairs, was a good workout using hands and feet , if there is another
workshop she will send out the information
* Jeff was curious who is interested in attending national
convention, five people raised their hand as interested
* There are cool features in zoom that allow you to choose the
color of your hand raised along with flesh tones in the filters part
* This Thursday there is the blind advisory committee meeting and
Brian will send out details to the list serve
Bell Ringers
* Jaime is happy to announce she will be having another baby boy
nephew in June so she cannot attend national convention
* Bobbi ringing bell for all the years of Christina's amazing work
and all she has done for our chapter
* Cindy is so happy this Thursday is her last day of her six-week
Lighthouse moving class, she did not know what to expect and has learned a
lot, and is so thankful to have taken the class
* Christina is so happy and is inviting everyone to stay after to
hang out
Our next meeting is on March 8th.
