Community:

So sorry for any confusion. My message presumed, incorrectly, that it was the SF Lighthouse holding the below mentioned AI Seminar. Apparently, it is the Seattle Lighthouse holding the event and beyond the circulated note, I know nothing of the Seattle event.

As it just happens, the SF Lighthouse also will be holding a series of 5 seminars deeply diving into the topics associated with using AI tools to better enable persons with visual disabilities to access written materials along the lines of my prior message. Look for an announcement from the SF Lighthouse in the future for the dates and times of the SF Lighthouse seminars which are expected to be in person, virtually streamed, and recorded for post presentation viewing.

I wish the Seattle Lighthouse all the best in holding its seminar on June 26 and for continuing to enhance the lives of persons with visual disabilities.

All the best.

I believe there is some confusion here. The LightHouse for the Blind in San Francisco is not offering this webinar rather it is the LightHouse in Seattle. Now, if the LightHouse in San Francisco is also going to be holding similar webinars that would be a great thing. I think we need to clarify what is happening here. Thank you Sent from my iPhone

Note that the SF Lighthouse seminar on June 26 is the first of a total of 5 seminars the SF Lighthouse will be holding all focusing on how AI tools can be used to assist persons with visual disabilities to access all forms of written materials and cause such materials to come to life. It is expected that highlights of the seminars will be demonstration of specific use cases involving the use of AI tools to gain random meaningful access to a wide variety of materials such as books, articles, pictures you take or are sent to you, websites, screen shots, all of which might be captured by a user or captured by someone else who sends the material to the user via email, text, file sharing, etc. We are experiencing a tipping point in gaining meaningful access to materials which up to now was accessible in forms that did not provide as meaningful access as the new AI tools offer. For example, imagine asking a picture of a menu at a restaurant to make a recommendation based on your desire to have protein and vegetables, but want to avoid red meat, and have the picture respond to you by randomly accessing the material and formulating a meaningful response. Ask the menu how much an Ice Tea is and it will tell you. Then imagine taking a picture of the restaurant receipt for a group of diners and asking it to tell you what your share of the total is if you had the poke bowl and an ice tea, including your share of any service charges, taxes and adding an 18% gratuity. The receipt will provide you step by step mathematics leading to its conclusion, or just tell you the amount which is your share of the bill.
This seminar series is not to be missed live or via virtual Zoom session, but if you do miss it, you will be able to tap into the content on the SF Lighthouse You Tube channel once the live /virtual presentation video is edited.
