Subject: [NFBC-Info] Update on SF LightHouse
To: NFB of California List <nfbc-info at nfbnet.org>
CC: <president at nfbcal.org>

We encourage all blind consumers and their family members who are genuinely
affected by the proposed takeover of the San Francisco LightHouse to
register for this December 8 open meeting. Share your questions, ideas, and
solutions with the board members of the San Francisco LightHouse. This is
the community's opportunity to be heard. For those who won't get a chance
to speak because of limited time:

1. Consider changing your Zoom screen name to reflect a
short statement such as "Joe Smith (Current LightHouse O/M student) Vote
No!" or "Betty Johnson (EHC Camper of 50 years) Say No" or Mark McGuire (LH
Manager) Vote yes!" or "Anonymous (Employee of 10 years) vote no/yes for the
takeover."

Others might find creative ways to express a message with your account
profile picture.

2. If chat or questions to the moderator are permitted,
consider writing a brief comment and asking that it be shared with the
board.

3. if you cannot attend this meeting below, consider
writing a letter explaining your involvement and position on this issue to
the LightHouse board and sending it to president at nfbcal.org
<mailto:president at nfbcal.org> . Respectful letters regardless of viewpoint
will be shared to the Board Chair, Jennison Asuncion for his consideration
to distribute them to other board members.

The point of the above is to help the LightHouse board assess the community
impact and understand how actual LightHouse consumers will be affected in a
practical way. While the NFB of California board members unanimously
opposes this proposed takeover, we applaud the LightHouse for conducting
this listening session and encourage all community members to freely share
their input regardless of viewpoint.

to participate in the discussion, please RSVP and indicate a request to
speak on the linked form at the end of this post.

LightHouse Community Discussion

When: Monday, December 8, 2025

Time: 4:00 - 5:30 PM (PST)

Where: Online via Zoom

Why: Discuss & answer questions regarding the LightHouse for the Blind and
Lighthouse Guild partnership

Dear LightHouse Community & Staff:

The LightHouse Board of Directors is seeking your continued input and
questions regarding the potential partnership between LightHouse San
Francisco and

Lighthouse Guild International. We know many of you have had the opportunity
to provide valuable insight at our fireside chats and in writing. We
appreciate

the feedback. We recognize that this is a monumental decision impacting the
future of the Lighthouse and take this decision seriously.

Prior to Thanksgiving the board promised an additional discussion. We
apologize for the delay. As we make our final decision it is important for
students,

family members, professionals, and staff to share their thoughts or ask
questions in a respectful and solutions-oriented manner.

This meeting will provide you with the opportunity to speak directly to the
LH Board. Each participant will have up to 3 minutes to speak.

We will prioritize voices that have not been heard in previous forums. If
you wish to attend the discussion, please register and we will send you a
Zoom link. Please note that registration will close by 1:00 PM on Monday,
December 8, 2025.

We look forward to seeing you at the Community Discussion!

Kind Regards,

Bob Regan, Sharon Sacks, and Kathryn Webster
