Hello Chapter Members,

Here's what's happening this month with the National Federation of the
Blind San Francisco Chapter - plus an exciting save the date for November!

CHAPTER MEETING - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14TH

Celebrate Blindness Equality Achievement Month with us! Talk with graduate
students from San Francisco State University who are studying to be
teachers of the blind or orientation and mobility instructors. This is your
chance to shape the future of blindness education by sharing your lived
experience with tomorrow's educators. This is an annual event and we look
forward to having the students every October!

Come at 6:00 PM for new members and connection time. The official meeting
starts at 6:30 PM and ends at 8:00 PM, where we will stay on the call and
it remains open for community to socialize.

OUTREACH AND EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEETING - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15TH

The Outreach and Education Committee meets on the third Tuesday of every
month from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Join us to help plan events, coordinate
outreach efforts, and shape our chapter's activities!

OCTOBER SOCIAL - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH

Ready for something different? Join us for dinner in the Mission followed
by "Your FUCKED UP Relationship" - an improv comedy show about messy
breakups at Endgames Improv Theater. The theater is doing live audio
description for the first time ever for a live audience with a large group,
and it's all happening for us!

Show time: 9:00 PM at Endgames Improv Theater, 2965 Mission St, San
Francisco (close to 24th Street BART station)

An email has gone out with more details about this event, including ticket
information and dinner plans.

COMMUNITY ZOOM CALL - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22ND

Get in the Halloween spirit! Join us for a fun Halloween celebration where
we'll share our favorite costumes, swap ideas for making tactile
decorations, and talk about decorating sweet treats, or your favorite
spooky movie. Whether you go all out for Halloween or just enjoy the
treats, come hang out and celebrate with us!

This call is led by Sagar, one of our newest members. An announcement will
be going out soon with more details.

SAVE THE DATE - FRIENDSGIVING - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND

Join us for our FIRST EVER Friendsgiving! Members of the Bay Area, Blind
Community, are coming together for a celebration hosted in collaboration
and partnership with the National Federation of the Blind, California
Council of the Blind, and the East Bay Center for the Blind. Connect with
blind and low vision folks from across the region, share a delicious meal,
and celebrate community.

Saturday, November 22nd at approximately 1:00 PM (final time to be
determined)

Please note: There will be NO social activity on the third Saturday in
November so we can all attend Friendsgiving together!

JOIN THE FRIENDSGIVING PLANNING COMMITTEE

If you enjoy connecting community over food, love coordinating events, or
are a party planning pro - we need you! This is a great opportunity to help
create a memorable event, connect with members from multiple organizations,
and put your skills to work building community. Plus, you'll get to help
shape our very first Friendsgiving tradition!

We are meeting every Monday at 5:00 PM for the next six weeks and you are
welcome to join us at the following Zoom link:

My heartfelt gratitude to our Board and Outreach and Education Committee
for their dedicated work in strengthening our chapter, and to our community
for inspiring us all by showing that blindness does not have to hold us
back.

We look forward to seeing you at our October events and celebrating
Friendsgiving together in November!

Let's celebrate in true federation spirit!
