*Muni and BART are facing serious budget crises, and drastic service 
cuts are on the table if we don’t act now to fund them. *If we do 
nothing, BART would have to cut 70% of service. This would mean ending 
service at 9pm, shuttering 15 stations, reducing frequencies to every 30 
minutes, closing the blue line, ending yellow line service past Concord, 
increasing fares by 50%, and more.

Meanwhile, without new funding measures Muni would have to cut 50% of 
all bus and Metro lines, including ending entire neighborhood routes and 
stopping regular service at 9pm (with only minimal late-night transit 
options).

The good news is, there’s a way out! Two propositions will be on the 
ballot this November to fund BART and Muni, but it’s crucial that we 
build support for them and avert disastrous service cuts across the Bay 
Area.

The ballot measures:

  * *Stronger Muni for All: *

    the San Francisco ballot, this proposition would create a property
    tax to fund Muni. Through the Muni Forever campaign, we have
    tirelessly advocated for this tax to be as progressive as possible,
    by making owners of bigger homes and businesses pay more.

  * *Connect Bay Area:*

    This regional transit measure will raise $1 billion per year to
    prevent cuts and improve service for BART, Muni, AC Transit,
    Caltrain, and other transit services.

importance of these two measures*, and the devastating outcomes if we 
don’t pass them. Let us know what transit centers or routes you use  
frequently and we can arrange a time to meet you there for flyering! We 
want to meet community members in different neighborhoods, so we can 
create a bus stop outreach event at a location that is convenient for

*Muni y BART enfrentan graves crisis presupuestarias, y se plantean 
recortes drásticos en el servicio si no actuamos ahora para 
financiarlos.*Si no hacemos nada, BART tendría que recortar el 70% de su 
servicio. Esto implicaría finalizar el servicio a las 9pm, cerrar 15 
estaciones, reducir la frecuencia de paso a intervalos de 30 minutos, 
eliminar el servicio de la Línea Azul y el de la Línea Amarilla más allá 
de Concord, aumentar las tarifas en un 50% y más.

Por otro lado, sin nuevas medidas de financiación, Muni tendría que 
recortar el 50% de todas sus líneas de autobús y Metro, lo que incluiría 
la eliminación de rutas completas en los vecindarios y la suspensión del 
servicio regular a las 9pm (manteniendo solo un servicio nocturno mínimo).

¡La buena noticia es que existe una solución! Este noviembre se 
someterán a votación dos propuestas para financiar a BART y Muni; es 
fundamental que generemos apoyo para ellas y evitemos recortes 
desastrosos en el servicio de toda el Área de la Bahía.
