Hello NFBSF chapter members and Bay Area blind community,

Who’s in for lunch, laughter, and a chapter social with a twist?

The Federation is built through relationships. Every blind person brings
talents, stories, lived experience, humor, ideas, and a unique way of
making things

happen. This social is about discovering what becomes possible when we put
those strengths together.

Saturday, September 5, 2026

1:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Yerba Buena Gardens

750 Howard Street, San Francisco

Free and outdoors

We’ll start the way many of our socials do, with food, conversation, and
time to catch up. Then we’ll speed things up!

Our approximate schedule will be:

- 1:00 to 2:15: Lunch and informal mingling

- 2:15 to 3:00: Speed friending

- 3:00to 3:30: Group conversation, highlights, and time to exchange contact
information

During speed friending, we’ll pair up for a few minutes and explore a
playful question together. Then we’ll rotate, meet someone new or
rediscover an old

friend, and try another question.

What is the most unexpected thing you have in common? If you entered
MasterChef as a team, what signature dish would you create? What would the
headline

of your shared TED Talk be? Could you invent a new form of transportation
together? If you rebuilt the internet from the ground up, what would you
change?

Answer the question, change it, or go completely off topic. There are no
perfect answers, no networking pitches, and no need to be serious. The
questions

are simply a starting point for discovering each other’s skills,
experiences, values, humor, and ideas.

After the fast part, we’ll slow things back down and gather as a group. We
can share favorite moments, surprising commonalities, and ideas that
emerged.

There will also be time to exchange contact information with people you
would like to keep talking with.

The closest BART station to this address is Powell St. Station .

   -

*Walking Distance:* It is about 2 blocks away (approximately a 6 to
   8-minute walk).
   -

*Walking Route:* From the station exit on Market Street, walk down Yerba
Buena Lane directly south into the park towards Howard Street.

   -

*Pedestrian Access:* Typing 750 Howard St into mapping apps brings users
right to the Howard Street side entrance of the gardens. It provides clear
walking routes directly onto the plaza paths without sending pedestrians to
   a blocked entrance.

   -

*Muni Transit:* For guests taking Muni, the Muni Metro T-Third Line
stops directly across the street at the *Yerba Buena/Moscone Station*
(at 4th and Howard Streets), putting riders just steps away from the plaza.

Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a chapter member to join us.

Please bring someone with you if you can: a blind friend, a prospective
member, or a chapter member we have not seen in a while. Sometimes a
personal “Come

with me” is all it takes to help someone reconnect with the Federation.
