Hi there,
Thank you for letting me know about the timing issue! This is actually
related to how you have your email settings configured. The first email
invitation for this event was sent out on January 5, 2026.
The reminder email you received late was sent on January 20, 2026, a couple
of hours before the event began at 7:00 PM.
If you have your email set up to receive messages in batches rather than as
they’re sent in real-time, you may not see time-sensitive reminders until
after an event has already occurred. Which is what happened in this case.
Important Feedback for Future Communications…
This is really valuable information for the NFB San Francisco Chapter
Outreach and Education Committee and anyone else sending out event
reminders. Email systems can be configured in two ways: to deliver messages
in real-time as they’re sent, or to deliver them in batches at set
intervals. To ensure we reach everyone—including those who receive emails
in batches—we should make it a point to send reminder emails at least 24
hours in advance of an event, rather than on the day of.
Alternatively if you would like to receive Text Message Reminders…
I manage a text message where I send individual reminders about NFB San
Francisco events via text. These reminders usually go out an hour or two
before meetings or the day before events.
I try not to spam people—you’ll probably receive 3-4 text messages per
month if you choose to sign up.
To join the text message thread:
∙ Text me at 925-321-8804 with your full name and write “NFBSF text message
thread”
∙ OR reply to this email with your contact information and let me know
you’d like to be added
I hope this helps, and I look forward to staying connected!
Best,
Laura Millar
