[NFBSF] Impromptu Socials This Weekend!

🏏 August Is Our Month of Impromptu Socials!


Well… August snuck up on us!


Since we moved our monthly social to the first Saturday of the month, it
arrived before our board meeting, and we never had a chance to officially
plan one.


So rather than skip August altogether, let’s do something a little
different. Let’s make August our Month of Impromptu Socials!


If you’re already getting together with other chapter members, trying
something fun, checking out a community event, grabbing coffee, or heading
out on an adventure, post it and invite the chapter along. Not every
gathering has to be a big, formally planned event. Sometimes the best
community happens when someone simply says, “I’m going. Who wants to join
me?”


We’ve already got two opportunities to get together this weekend.


🏏 Blind Cricket Social


A few of us are getting together to play blind cricket, and we’d love for
you to join us. This isn’t an official chapter event or anything elaborate.
It’s simply something we’re doing together, and we wanted to invite anyone
who’d like to come along.


We did this last year during one of our chapter picnics, and it was a lot
of fun. We loved the original simplicity of it, so we’re doing it again.


Never played blind cricket? Never even heard of it? Perfect! Most of us
hadn’t before last year. No experience is necessary, and you definitely
don’t have to think of yourself as athletic. Come watch, give it a try,
cheer people on, ask questions, or simply spend the afternoon hanging out
with other blind people. It’s a lot more fun than it sounds!

Enter through the orange gate on McKinley Street. The field is part of the
school grounds.


GPS Tip: Your GPS will probably try to send you to Martin Luther King Jr.
Way. Instead, head to McKinley Street and look for the orange gate.

🏃 Achilles Walking & Running Workout


Our friends at Achilles International are also inviting blind and low
vision athletes and guides to join them for a workout at Ocean Beach.


You do not have to be an experienced runner. Come run, walk, move at your
own pace, and enjoy a Sunday morning by the ocean.
