[Nfbv-announce] Proposed DBVI merger with DRS

Good afternoon all,



On Friday, January 20, 2012, Delegate Landes patroned budget amendment 355-1H to move the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired into the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services.  According to Mr. Landes, "This amendment recognizes savings each year to the general fund associated with merging the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired with the Department of Rehabilitative Services."  



On Monday, January 30, 2012 the attached letter was delivered to each member of the House Appropriations Committee.  Please familiarize yourselves with the letter and contact your delegate and let them know that The National Federation of the Blind of Virginia is opposed to this proposal for reasons stated in President Schroeder's letter.
