NFBV Colleagues,

Thank you for your work during Washington Seminar.  As the list below indicates, we have two Virginia Congressfolk cosponsoring our bill on Space Available.  This would make 100% disabled veterans eligible for transport via military planes where there is extra space.  It is particularly gratifying that Congressman Wittman has cosponsored the bill, as he is the Chairperson of relevance on the House Armed Services Committee, Subcommittee on Readiness, the subcommittee with jurisdiction over the legislation.  Congratulations and thanks, Fredericksburg!

Our next immediate point of concentration is to get our other two House Armed Services Committee members to cosponsor the bill.  These are Congressman J. Randy Forbes and Congressman Scott Rigell, both of the coastal part of the State.  I have reached out to the staffers we spoke to during Washington Seminar to ask them to put this in front of their bosses.  What I think would be helpful is if folks from the districts of these two would call or email their offices and urge them to cosponsor H.R. 164, the Space Available bill.  You can call their local offices or their Washington offices at (202) 225-3121 and ask for the office n question.  I am asking chapter Presidents in these districts to forward this message to their members.  We are concentrating on these Republican members of the Armed Services Committee initially, but will broaden our push as the list grows.  Mr. Forbes has cosponsored our legislation in the past, and Mr. Rigell addressed our convention a couple years ago, so I believe they are sympathetic to our requests.
