Subject: Help needed on Tuesday November 5
Good Afternoon to All of You,
I am writing to ask for your help in getting members of your
affiliates to attend a Senate hearing on the Disability Treaty next Tuesday,
November 5, at 2:30 in the afternoon. The hearing will take place in the
Dirksen Senate Office Building in room 419. It is very important that our
members attend this important hearing. As you all know a vote to ratify
this treaty was held last December, and we were not able to reach the
two-thirds vote threshold for ratification. One of the greatest reasons
given, was that the disability community was out manned by opponents of the
treaty, and we hope to show the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that
Disability advocates are supporting this policy. Thank you very much for
any help you can provide on this matter. Jesse
