Hi,
We have received a number of great questions from across the Commonwealth
about the convention Youth Track. Keep your questions coming.
I will answer the top 3 in this note.
1. Who Should attend?
K-12 students along with college Students. There will be special breakout
sessions for some programs by grade but we are confident that we have great
programming for college, high school, middle school and elementary students.
2) What will happen at the student division lunch
In addition to making friends and getting advice with students across
Virginia, there will be some feature programs at the lunch including:
A) Different Ways to Succeed at Taking Notes in Class - Our panel
will share the different approaches they use to take notes in class so they
can succeed in the classroom with less stress
B) College Successes and Challenges - Our panel of college students
will discuss how they have overcome challenges and are thriving in college
3) What paperwork is required?
Besides getting a hotel room, if needed, you will need to complete both
convention registration and youth Track Registration. You can do the
convention registration online but we need everyone to provide us the Youth
Track Registration so we have the necessary paperwork. All forms should be
mailed to the address provided in the below message.
For your convenience, All the details from the earlier note are provided
below.
If you have more questions, please reach out to me.
Looking forward to an exciting convention in Hampton.

Running parallel to the convention will be the 2014 Youth Track, presented
by the NFB of Virginia Students Division. The Youth Track will: connect
students with positive role models and their peers throughout the state;
challenge students to think about themselves and their role in the civil
rights movement; introduce students to our positive NFB philosophy on
blindness; educate students about their choices for blindness skills
training; and put these new experiences to work through a travel activity
outside the convention hotel.
This year, we want to highlight some of our activities at Youth Track:
Would You A Thought Provoking workshop for students led by
successful blind role models. Challenge yourself to consider how your
actions and reactions impact how the world sees you as a successful student.
Student Division Luncheon network with blind students from
across the Commonwealth and learn how you can help other students overcome
challenges.
