At the next meeting of the NFB Fairfax Chapter, Chapter member Annette Carr
will talk to us about the One Touch Self Defense program and her experiences
as she is working on her certification as a One Touch instructor. The One
Touch Self Defense program was designed for people who are blind, but has
been proven beneficial for numerous demographics such as deaf, deaf-blind,
children, seniors, veterans and people who are multi-disabled. There are
many benefits beyond safety that come from the program, greater
communication skills, increased confidence and independence, spatial
awareness and improved O&M skills, just to name a few. Various agencies,
schools and training programs for individuals who have a disability have
seen positive results from the incorporation of the 1Touch program into
their curriculum.
Join us at the Glory Days Grill this Thursday evening for this valuable presentation and for a little bit of hands on
activities that you will be able to practice at home.
The address for the Glory Days Grill is 3059 Nutley Street, Fairfax, VA 22031-1931
We begin gathering at 6:30 PM and the meeting starts promptly at 7:00 PM and runs till 8:30 PM.
