To the members of the National Federation of the Blind of Virginia,

As we plan for our affiliate this spring, I am regretful to need to step
down as the 2nd Vice President and Legislative Director. I have recently
accepted a position with the Utah Division of Services for the Blind and
Visually Impaired. This new position will require me to relocate in June to
Salt Lake City, Utah. While I am very excited to continue the great work of
the NFB, I know it is not possible to continue to serve in these leadership
roles here in Virginia. I have been so blessed to have been a part of such a
wonderful affiliate for seven years and cannot thank you all enough for the
mentoring and support you have provided both myself and Daniel. We came from
the Ohio affiliate and knew right away we weren't leaving behind one group,
but rather we were joining another and spreading our Federation network.
Daniel will continue to work and live here in Richmond for the foreseeable
future so please be sure he doesn't get off the hook with all the work there
is still to do!

>From hosting my first convention as chapter president, to selling peanuts
and hosting lunch seminars, I have enjoyed all the personal relationships I
have made while here. Many of you have served as mentors, students, and
became my friends and family. I cannot thank you enough for all you have
done to help blind people live the lives they want. This is not a farewell,
but rather a see you in Orlando.

Respectfully,

Jennifer M. Kennedy

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
