I regret to inform you of the passing of Mel Padgett. He was our Treasurer
of the Fredericksburg Chapter of the NFBV. Mel was a friend to many.

Melvin worked as a Senior Commercial Loan and Grant Specialist, for the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, for 28 years. He was also very active in the
community; he was always willing to give his time and talent to help improve
the community. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the Treasurer

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
