There are many exciting programs on Saturday (11/12) afternoon at the NFB of
Virginia Convention. The introductory Social Media sessions require advanced
sign up and some pre-work. Space is limited so please sign up if this
program is of interest.
2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Social Media for Beginners: Cape Charles A, Danielle
Trevino, Coordinator for Social Media and Member Engagement, National
Federation of the Blind, Baltimore, Maryland
This introductory session will help members understand how to use Facebook
and Twitter for both achieving personal and Federation goals. This is a
hands on session to get people started on these tools and explain why it is
important.
Space is limited to the first 25 registered participants and individuals
must pre-register to participate. Register by contacting Deepa Goraya at
deepa.goraya at gmail.com
Include Introductory Social Media in the Subject Line.
Participants are highly encouraged to bring their tech to the session so
they can participate directly in the program. This introductory session will
not provide sufficient background to attend the advanced session.
Session Overview:
In this session, we will be covering the following:
* Signing up for Facebook and Twitter
* Interacting with your news feed
* Customizing your profile
In order to fully participate in this session, please have a Wi-Fi enabled
laptop computer or smartphone charged and ready to go and a pair of ear
buds. You may also want to bring something to take notes with. If you are
using your smartphone, please have the Facebook and Twitter apps downloaded.
They are free and accessible.
Note: This is a beginner session. We will be covering basic tactical
information. If you are looking for more strategic advice regarding content
creation and analytics, the second session might be a better fit. If you
have signed up for both sessions and need to modify your reservation, please
contact Deepa Goraya.
