[NFBV-Announce] NFBV Virtual Meetings for the week of August 10 through August 17

This message outlines many events and meetings planned for the month.



Almost all chapter and division meetings are using the Virginia Affiliate’s
Zoom account and all meetings are open to the public.


All calls are available using the telephone dial in option or through the
free and totally accessible Zoom app on Windows, Apple IOS, or Google
Android. You can also access just using your Web Browser.


For all these services, it is important to be on mute when you are not
speaking. The presenter will provide instructions on unmuting to be heard.
Additionally, just like in-person Federation meetings, please preface your
comments by stating your name and being recognized by the organizer before
speaking.

Virginia Affiliate Virtual Programming







*Health and Wellness Night*

*Wednesday, August 12 at 7:00 PM*



Please join the Virginia Affiliate on Wednesday,  August 12th from 7:00  thru
8:30  pm eastern time, for an interactive webinar on healthy eating as it
relates to diabetes and cardiac  health.  Our presenter  will be Kim  Ladd,
health educator  with VDBVI.



*Ladies Night*

Please join the Virginia Affiliate every Saturday evening from 7 to 9 pm
Eastern Time for good times. Each week will be a different theme.  Grab
your BFF’s and a drink alcoholic or non, settle in your favorite spot and
get ready to laugh, share stories, and have fun!



The theme for this week, August 15th, is open forum…tell us what is on your
mind.  Let’s get wild and crazy and talk about everything!

Grab your needles, yarn, and favorite beverage as we meet to discuss our
current projects, Revelry, festivals, and all things knitty. Not a knitter
or crocheter yet? Not a problem! Come learn from those with s bit more
experience. All fiber artists welcome.


*Blind Parents Meeting *

*Sunday, August 23 at 8:00 PM*



Country going virtual and freaking out? First time homeschooler?  These are
crazy times we find ourselves in. By now, you have either decided to
homeschool your child, or you are trying to navigate a virtual platform
with your child chosen by your child’s school. You may be trying to use a
combination of both.  Join the Virginia Blind Parents as we navigate these
new waters together.  This meeting is designed to give you a chance to ask
any questions you may have and meet others who are going through similar
situations.



The first half of the meeting will be designated for helping address any
issues or concerns related to virtual schooling and the platforms being
used by different school districts.  Mike Fish, the lead technology
instructor for the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision
Impaired, will talk you through different platforms and answer questions
and concerns in regards to accessibility.  He will also assist you in ways
to obtain your child’s materials using these virtual platforms.



The second half of the meeting will be used to address tips and tricks for
homeschooling as a blind parent.  C. J. Fish, a blind homeschool mom of
four children, will be sharing her experiences and answering any questions
you may have.
