>> Special Alert: Seeking Adults With Disabilities for Focus Group on Automated (Self-Driving) Vehicles
>>
>>
>> March 4th 5:30-7:30 at ECNV
>> RSVP: dray at ecnv.org
>>
>> The ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV) is assisting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a research team from Toxcel, LLC with a project designed to identify and begin to address the needs of vulnerable road users and members of the disability community so that they can safely and efficiently use automated vehicles (AVs) that are developed in the future.
>> We are looking for people with disabilities to participate in a focus group of 8 to12 people who would be willing to share their thoughts about what these future cars should look like and what features they might need to ensure that they are accessible and safe for people with disabilities to operate. We are also interested in your perspective about how these vehicles might be used in the provision of shared-ride services, such as public transit (buses or shuttles) or public or human service paratransit based on your current experience with such services.
>> Participants will be paid an honorarium of $100 for their time.
>> We welcome participation of members of the disability community as well as families, friends, personal assistants/caregivers and other stakeholders.
>>
>>
>> What: A focus group on automated vehicles – The focus group session will likely last about two hours and will be led by Carrie Redden, Toxcel’s Director of Health & Planning. The discussion will focus on design features and information systems that need to be considered to ensure that users receive required information both inside and outside of an autonomous vehicle.
>>
>> When: Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
