You are likely familiar with the face of today's blind person in need. She
is the single mother trying to navigate this new world of distance learning
for her children. He is the recent immigrant struggling to find employment.
She is the senior citizen trying to come to grips with her recent loss of
sight. They all share a mutual pursuit of the two things that are not always
readily available: information and understanding. In our current climate,
you do not need reminders of the terrible state of affairs. You need
strength. On the afternoon of Saturday, October 31, we will build it.

Join me for a couple of hours of exploring everyday struggle. From stories
of divorce to sudden sight loss, from chronic health conditions to losing
loved ones in the pandemic, these are not your typical snapshots of
successful blind heroes. They are winning, but it took, and in some cases is
still taking, enormous willpower to prevail. Grit is so much more than
self-confidence. It is raw vulnerability and authenticity, and through
strategically spoken speakers, videos, and interactive exercises, you will
learn to embrace it all.

Our keynote speaker is one of the FBI's most prominent treasures. He was one
of my instructors at the FBI Academy and helped shape me into the quiet
storm I am today. Frank Marsh is a communication analyst and a former Marine
Corps intelligence officer. As a trainer for the Department of Justice's
National Drug Intelligence Center, he taught special agents, intelligence
analysts, police officers, and investigators from around the world the power
of effective communication. Always entertaining and adept at actively
engaging his audience, Frank is a frequent presenter to corporations,
associations, and universities on effective communication, and detecting
deception. He is a certified handwriting analyst, served three years in the
well-known Behavioral Analysis Unit, and has been featured on the History
Channel's "Secrets of Body Language." Frank looks forward to delivering a
presentation on Struggle, Service & Success - Pain, Passion & Purpose. The
goal for this presentation is to gain insight on how the thoughts we think
and the words we speak have a direct connection on our determination,
discernment and endurance. Insight is the appropriate word to describe this
presentation as the definition for Insight is a penetrating mental vision or
discernment; faculty of seeing into inner character or underlying truth.

This is a rare opportunity you will not want to miss. Please forward to
anyone, blind or sighted, you feel could benefit. In order to hit the ground
running, please check into the Zoom session on the appointed day at least
ten minutes ahead of 2 PM. To register for this and many other exciting
opportunities as part of the NFB of Virginia convention, please follow the
