> Recently, the Advancing the NFBV by Empowering Black Members Committee voted to change the name to Black Empowerment Committee. This change was made to fit more inline with our mission statement, which is: To educate members of society, To empower black members to become advocates for themselves and others, and To teach the community about the effects of discrimination at the intersection of blindness and race; while providing information, resources, and support for members to create a future of opportunities and equality for members of the black and blind community.

> As many of you know by now we are hosting a seminar about not only Black issues but discrimination across the board and we would like your assistance. During our seminar, we will be having a panel discussion on various types of discrimination ranging from race, age, religion, nationality etc and the committee would like you to answer the following questions concerning your experiences.

> What was reason for your discrimination?
> How did you feel about it?
> What did steps did you take to resolve this issue?
> Was the issue resolved?
> If the issue wasn't resolved, what type of outcome would have like to have occur?
> 
> The committee knows that sometimes a situation can make you feel like you are being targeted and if that is the case, we want to know about that as well.
> 
> We will pick some of the situations and discuss them with the panel. 
> 
> The name and contact information for those who provide feedback will be keep anonymous and in the strictest of confidential only the chairperson of the committee, who is gathering this information will have access to it.
