              Hey NFB Family and Friends,

Here you go. Black History Month Day 17. Enjoy!

Day 17

After a 13 year unwritten embargo regarding Blacks playing football at
Ohio State, Bill Willis broke the Pro Football's color barrier in 1946, a
year before Jackie Robinson played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, when Willis was
signed to the Cleveland Browns.

While he played both offense and defense, it was at the middle guard
position that he earned lasting admiration and acclaim. Lightning quickness
was his constant trademark but opponents remember he was a solid blocker and
devastating tackler as well.

He was a Pro Bowler and NFL Champion and was later inducted into both the
College and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He was an advocate for the African American community until he passed in
2007.

Ohio State retired his number 99 jersey after his death.
