Highlights for Students and parents at the 2021 NFB of Virginia Convention
Students and parents will benefit from a remarkable set of programs
Including:
* Advocating for Our Kids - Join the Virginia Organization of Parents
of Blind Children for a two-evening seminar (October 24 & 25) where we
explore advocacy techniques, connect with role models, and leverage
resources from across the country.
* Partnering with State and Local School Systems for the Success of
Blind Students - Hear about the exciting partnership in Maryland as we
determine how we drive greater collaboration and accountability for Virginia
students.
* Project RISE - Learn how our students are obtaining exciting Summer
work experiences, exploring their career interests, and building powerful
connections that will last a lifetime.
* Big Money Made Easy - Participate in this Saturday afternoon seminar
to learn the techniques used to manage your finances and achieve solid
results that will last a lifetime.
* BELL Academy In Home Edition - We will showcase our national summer
learning program for blind and low vision children ages 4-11, in tandem with
our Virginia Mini BELL program, our home-grown BELL extension.
* Connect with the Virginia Association of Blind Students - On
Thursday (10/28) our students will run an exciting program of empowerment,
fun and problem solving.
* NABS Update - Across the country, our National Association of Blind
Students (NABS) is working hard to build community, overcome challenges and
serve as a network. Hear from NABS Rep Logan Stenzel about our work across
the nation.
This is just a small subset of the valuable programming to be included in
sessions run between Sunday October 24 and Sunday, October 31.
The National Federation of the Blind of Virginia convention combines
excellent networking with positive blind role models, fellowship with old
and new friends across the Commonwealth, and some of the best presentations
on topics important to the blind of Virginia
The agenda will be published shortly but don't wait, register today.
