[NFBV-Announce] Important Convention Announcements, Part 2

Hello,

 

The strategy to making convention work is recognizing the goal is not to
assume no balls will be dropped. The aim is always to do what I can to make
sure the balls that are dropped are not critical ones. Unfortunately, I
dropped an important one. I did not send our host chapter a copy of the
restaurant menu; therefore, we will not have Braille menus for the hotel
restaurant. I am working on procuring an electronic copy so that people can
review it on their own. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience.

 

Now, as you know, restaurants at these hotels are rarely staffed to the
level we need. My key concern is Friday evening. If you decide to eat at the
restaurant, please know you may experience a long wait time. I am doing what
I can to persuade the hotel to have sufficient servers, but most of you will
remember what the wait times were like when we were in Portsmouth in 2019.
Remember, there is a shuttle that will take you to the nearby mall, which
will open up a wide range of eating options. I will reiterate here that you
should not plan on using the hospitality event as your primary meal plan for
that evening.

 

On a different note, the hotel layout description has now been added to the
convention landing page. See below for the link again. Look under the
Special Announcements section of the page; it is the first item listed.
There have been a couple changes to the layout since we were last at this
property, and although the written orientation will help, please know there
will be a group of people on site to help you get oriented if needed.

 

If you need me during the convention, you'll be able to find me at the audio
table on Friday and Saturday during general session. You can also reach me
at the help line phone number listed in the agenda. Otherwise, please travel
safely. It's going to be a great weekend, and it will be all the more
exciting because you will be there to share it with us.
