[NFBV-Announce] Call 5 state Senators today (2/22) to request passage of HB516 Accessible Prescription Labels

Your action is Needed on Thursday (2/22) to ensure virginia Senate passage
of HB516 accessible Prescription Labels.

Thanks to our collective efforts, HB516, the accessible prescription
labeling bill which would require that an accessible label be placed on a
prescription bottle at the request of a blind person, passed the Virginia
House of Delegates. Very early Friday (2/23) morning, the bill will be voted
on in the Senate Subcommittee on Health Professions. We need your help in
getting the bill passed through the subcommittee which meets super early on
Friday morning. The lobbyists for the pharmacy industry have come out in
opposition to the bill. Thanks to your advocacy and the over 40 people who
made comments on the necessity of accessible prescription labeling, the bill
has passed the House of Delegates. With your advocacy on Thursday, we have a
strong chance of getting our bill through the Senate as well.

We are simply asking you to make 5 calls on Thursday (2/22) between 8:30 AM
and 4:30 PM to simply talk to the receptionist who answers the phone for
each Senator. You can also leave a voicemail if you get their voicemail. 

Provide them your name, tell them that you are a blind person and you
support HB516 Accessible Prescription Labels which will be heard in
Sub-committee on Friday. They may ask for your address. If you happen to be
a constituent of the State Senator, please make certain to mention that
fact.

 

Please take five minutes of your time to call the five subcommittee members
whose names appear below and ask for their support of HB516.
