Welcome to October. We have secured enviable hotel room rates, shared the
agenda packed with exciting programming, made registration fast and
affordable with pricing that goes up after October 7, and are highlighting
the benefits of attending. What we need is for you to act fast because the
hotel is booking up fast and I don't want you sleeping on my couch.
Our NFBV24 State convention will highlight our work to Keep us fit, mentally
engaged, and making the world better for blind /low vision people.
But, we will not be able to fix the problem of no hotel room if you miss our
deadlines and I am uncertain if we can even accommodate everyone who wants a
room at these great rates if you don't get your reservation booked right
away.
Physically Fit
Blind Tennis - Learn about Blind Tennis and how you might bring this sport
to your local community, then try it out yourself in our hands on session.
Sports and Rec - Should we have a Sports & Recreation Group in Virginia -
Come and help us determine if this makes sense on Friday afternoon.
Happiness Moments - Participate in our Saturday Health and Wellness Seminar
for seniors.
* Tune Up Your Cane Travel Skills - We all can fine tune our travel
skills. We have seven great O&M instructors ready to give you some pointers
so bring your challenges and sign up for one of our Friday 30-minute
personalized sessions so you can get out there and enjoy.
Mentally Awake
* The Future of Disability Rights - How do recent US Supreme Court
decisions impact our rights, explained in terms for non-lawyers. Monica Bash
will be sharing insights but will also be around throughout the convention
to answer your questions.
* Accessible Video Games - Learn and get a demo of blind and low
vision features of video games then try your hand at these games during our
accessible video game showcase.
* Can blind people be Architects, designers, and builders - Learn how
we are breaking barriers for blind people in these fields.
Making the World a Better Place
* Defending the rights of blind prisoners
* Fighting for our rights with Uber and Lyft - Hear from participants
in our rally for our rights in San Francisco.
* Accessible Prescription Labels - Making us safer by ensuring access
to our prescription information.
* Be part of the solution - Learn what we are doing at a national,
state and local level and how you can be part of the process and share in
making the world a better place.
Did we mention fun activities, new friends, and a great setting right on the
Elizabeth River.

But our amazing hotel block is filling up fast and you had better book your
reservation well before the October 7 deadline, so you aren't left out in
the cold.
You must act fast. Register for the convention and book your hotel room by
October 7 because our awesome hotel rates and our discounted registration
will be gone by October 7. It can be cold on the Elizabeth River.
