Are you, or someone you know:
* 14 to 21 years old
* Totally blind or see enough to get into trouble, but not enough to
get out of it, or fall somewhere in between
* Worried about your future employment
* Struggling to complete assignments on time and meet class
expectations
* Feeling like you are the only person who is blind or low vision for
miles around
* Understanding of your family and friends' protectiveness but wish it
was not so protective
Identifying with any of these statements is a lot to carry around, but there
is a program that can help share the weight and make the miles seem less
tiring: Project RISE.
Project RISE is going to help you build the soft and hard skills needed to
be a competitive job applicant. Part of this development will come through
the one-on-one time you spend bonding with your seasoned mentor. Part of
your growth will come through your participation in our mix of in-person and
virtual instruction and activities. The rest of your growth will be from the
valuable experiences and engagements which you will gain by working with our
network of professional and community partners.
We are not going to sugar coat it, sometimes it's going to be difficult, and
we are asking you to make a time commitment, but the program will be worth
every inch of effort. The job market continues to evolve and change quickly;
however, our mentors and staff have personally navigated this change and
feel confident in guiding you to the field of your choice.
Somewhere between partying on a boat in the Baltimore Harbor and completing
a summer internship, you are going to recognize your full potential, and our
team will be right there to celebrate your successful transition from a
curious young adult to a fully informed professional.
To explore everything that Project RISE can do for you, fill out the brief
application below and we will meet to learn how we can meet you where you
are and move forward with you to where you want to go.
