Spotlight On

Tonight is the premire of a new initiative offered by your Membership
Committee, “Your journey thru blindness” this is a zoom meeting, on our
affiliate’s zoom. It will be the 2nd Monday of each month from 7 thru 9 PM
and will be facilitated by membership committee members (this month, the
facilitators will be Ameenah Ghoston and Karin Jernberg). We are providing
this service as a safe place for people to get resources, talk about any
challenges and triumphs you have, a place to get advice or share tips as
well as any other topics people want to chat about. Please join us tonight
and every 2nd Monday, make friends and talk with others like you. See you
tonight!

Hello NFBV Family!

Your Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee has been watching recent events
in our United States and are hearing much worried chatter about the world
and future of DEI. More than we realize, DEI is woven into the fabric of
countless programs, from the VA to education and far beyond! We want to
pull our membership together to hear from a panel of "experts" who will help
us understand what has happened, how it will affect our blind and low vision
community, and explore, together, how we can support our community and even
influence the trajectory of changes to come.

This public forum, our Fireside Chat, will take place on Wednesday, February
19th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Zoom. Here is the link:

call.

Listen, learn, support, and advocate.

Our seniors met and we decided to have a presentation about the National
Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) Alexa skills which
can be used by those who are registered library patrons. Patty Droppers,
our Seniors Division President, is very proficient with this Alexis skill
and she will share her knowledge on Tuesday, February, 25th, on our
affiliate zoom, starting at 7 PM.

If you are a NLS Member with an Alexis, this is one presentation you don’t
want to miss!
