Hey NFB Family and Friends,

It's a new year and I hope this one is full of love, peace, good health and
an abundance of blessings for you and your families!

The new year brings new ideas and new or more effective ways of doing
things. This brings me to this weekly announce list email and the changes we
are putting in place. The Communications Committee, the Membership Committee
and I, Corresponding Secretary, will be working together to promote chapter
meetings and events. This is how it's going to work, from this point
forward.

If you have something to post to the announce list that is not related to a
chapter, division or committee, please send it to me and it will be posted
within 24 hours of receipt. If the post is received on a Sunday or Holiday,
please allow 48 hours to post. Examples of posts in this category would be
Richmond and Washington Seminar information, scholarship information,
convention information etc.

For Chapter, Committee and Division information the schedule is: starting
February 1st, if you are hosting an event between the 1st thru 15th of the
following month we will need you to email Teisha Gillespie and I no later
than the 10th of the previous month to let us know about the event and if
you are hosting an event during the second half of the month, 16-31th we
need to know by no later than the 25th of the previous month. For example,
If Your event is on March 8th, we'll need to no by no later than February
10th and by no later than February 25, for events scheduled from the 16th
thru 31st.

Teisha says "I will send out an email to President's with an initial "call
for events" on the 5th to encourage you to submit events you have for the
next month between the 1st and the 15th by the 10th. Subsequently, I will
send out a reminder on the 20th of each month encouraging you all to submit
requests for events you have between the 16th and 30th for no later than the
25th."

Teisha continues, "As NFBV chapter members, we know you all are dedicated to
not only supporting your members, but also to the greater good of the
Virginia affiliate. So, that means if you are hosting a speaker that's
giving a talk on a topic that impacts the entire blind community or are
hosting a hands-on activity that many could learn from, then we want to
amplify your impact by sharing that with the entire federation."

If you have any questions about this new format, please send a message to
both Teisha and I, Teisha.Collins at gmail.com
<mailto:Teisha.Collins at gmail.com> and Membership at nfbv.org
<mailto:Membership at nfbv.org> . Thank you and looking forward to more
participation in 2025!!

Be sure to read your email tomorrow for another installment of Member to
Member, let's get to know each other!

Let's give a whopping round of applause to everyone who participated in
Richmond Seminar! The teams made an impact and our voices were heard.

REMEMBER.and don't forget!

The Greater Alexandria Chapter is planning a very special meeting for
January 2025 that will include "extra-sensory stimulation"! YIKES! What
does THAT mean!

No need to worry! We will start by stimulating that 'ole FUNNY BONE with a
little activity we will call BLIND BLOOPERS! Sometimes, as blind people, we
get into some pretty crazy predicaments.like the time I got into the wrong
car, thinking it was my Honey waiting for me outside at the Safeway! Ha,
ha! I'm sure there are plenty of those experiences, even crazier than mine,
to go around! We want to share those, so get your bloopers ready!

Next, we will stimulate the 'ole NOGGIN, and maybe a bit of that
TOUCHY-FEELY BONE in your chest, with a deep dive into the language we use
to describe ourselves. Not going to say anymore! You'll have to come and
find out the rest by participating!

Our "EXTRA-SENSORY" EVENT will take place on our affiliate's Zoom, Thursday,
January 30th, starting promptly at 7:00 p.m.!
