The minutes were approved.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Mark Roane delivered the Treasurer’s report, stating the affiliate’s general checking account balance as of Dec 31, 2021, as $121360.71. The report was approved.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Bree Murray gave a Project Rise update, highlighting 35 current students, a mix of in person and virtual events, and the search for an employment coordinator.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Joe Orozco delivered a Chapter Leadership Institute (CLI) update, describing a successful program.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Joe Orozco also delivered a convention operations update, covering our current plan to meet in person at the Westin Tyson’s Corner from Oct 28 to Oct 30, 2022, subject to change.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Sandy Halverson gave a Silver Bells report, outlining the goals of the program, and our hopes of spreading the word to rehab and other networks for blind seniors.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Louise Walch gave a Bell Academy update, including an outreach plan and collaboration with Project Rise this upcoming year.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We heard a National Convention update, in which Tracy noted the in-person location in New Orleans, Earl Everett reported ideas on fundraising efforts, and Mary Durbin discussed scholarship opportunities for first-time convention attendees.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Sandy Halverson made a motion for the Virginia affiliate to contribute a banquet ticket to all of those who have pre-registered for National Convention from Virginia. The motion was adopted.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Tracy reminded chapters to contribute to the national funds.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Mark Roane stated the names and roles of individuals being compensated by the affiliate. He made a motion that the Virginia affiliate acknowledge, as per our national code of conduct, a potential perceived conflict of interest with those being compensated as independent contractors and simultaneously serving on the board of directors.
