This Month's Discussion:

This month's presentation is about nutritious meal planning for the
holidays. Melanie Berdyck, a registered dietitian from Giant Food store,
will tell us about nutritious cooking for the holidays. Melanie comes with
years of experience and a master's degree in applied nutrition. Do you want
to know how to select healthier food even when it's a canned product or
create a healthier dessert? Melanie will share with us the secrets to
reading food labels and how to interpret them. She will also highlight the
Giant Food app and how to find sales. Come get your questions answered about
meal planning for the holidays. Whether you need a premade dish or the
individual ingredients for a holiday feast, Melanie will offer tips to meet
your food needs without overspending during the holiday.

Election Information:

All six (6) board positions of the Fairfax Chapter of the National
Federation of the Blind of the Virginia Affiliate (NFBV) are for 1-year and
are voted on annually by the Fairfax Chapter Membership.  Any Fairfax
Chapter member who is in good standing may run for any of the 6 board
positions.  A member may nominate themselves, or they can be nominated by
another Fairfax Chapter member in good standing only if they have granted
the member permission to nominate them.  Nominees must be present at the
meeting during the election.

Description of Board Position Responsibilities

President 

*	oversees all chapter activities.   
*	Facilitates and coordinates a collaborative environment to support
the work of committees and the Chapter as a whole.  
*	Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board meetings.  
*	This position is the face of the chapter at state events.

Vice President

*	Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board meetings. 
*	Assists the President with Chapter business.  
*	Can chair and be a member of Chapter committees.  
*	When the President is unavailable, represents the chapter at state
events and runs meetings.  

Secretary

*	Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board meetings.  
*	Takes notes during all meetings.  
*	Maintains documents and records related to Chapter business.
*	Assists the President in preparing written Chapter communication.  
*	Can chair and be a member of Chapter committees.  

Treasurer

*	Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board meetings.  
*	oversees all Chapter related money matters including managing the
Chapter bank account and disbursing Chapter funds as approved by Chapter
members. and 
*	Keeps the President and membership up-to-date on deposits,
withdrawal, and account balance.  
*	Can chair and be a member of Chapter committees.  

General Board Member (2 positions) 

*	Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board meetings. 
*	Contributes to decisions related to Chapter business and mattered
handled by the Board.  
*	Can chair and be a member of Chapter committees.
