		Happy MOnday and happy conclusion to September.

> Convention:
> If you plan to attend and have not yet registered, early bird registration ends on October 7. 
> The agenda has been sent out, and there is a sign-in form for some of the activities, and limited availability.
> So move fast; see the links at the bottom of this message for convention highlights and the link to register.
> ** Important:
> If you planned to take Amtrak to and from the convention, the Sunday, November 3, return trains have been canceled. There is only a “mixed service” option which will require a bus at just after 7:00 AM and a train that leaves at about 8:30. We have learned that it is highly unlikely that previously listed trains will be restored.
> Therefore, the affiliate is exploring transportation options.
> If you require said options, get in touch with me immediately. 
> Blindness Equality Achievement Month Event:
> On October 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, there will be a Meet the Blind Event at Skyline House Condominiums in Falls Church.
> I have already been contacted by several individuals in our chapter and in the Potomac Chapter who will be assisting with answering questions about blindness, demonstrating orientation and mobility skills and assistive technology, Brailling names and short messages for $1 donations each, and reading Braille to children from print/Braille books and to adults from books or magazines.
> Please reach out no later than October 8 to let me know which of these activities you are most interested in; I will call a meeting for volunteers next week; I will want everyone to gather by 12:15 on the fourteenth to ensure that everything is set up.
