Last night at our March chapter meeting, Arielle Silverman, Director of Research at the American Foundation for the Blind, discussed a webinar that will take place next Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM Eastern.
AFB has developed fact sheets resulting from in-depth research that will add to, and better inform us all, about the lives of those of us who are blind: on employment (is that 70 percent unemployment statistic accurate . . . spoiler, it isn’t), what is the state of accessible transportation options (abysmal, particularly in rural locations); how are we treated in the health care arena (well, we know) . . . but this information has been updated and is invaluable to anyone who wants to pursue advocacy related to these issues and more on the local, state, national, and perhaps even the inbternational level.
In addition to the results of the research, there will be presented a three-part formula for advocacy: something that we can all immediately employ as we change what it means to be blind, and live the lives we want.
So please, go right over here and register, take note, and come to our meetings, attend conventions, become involved in your communities armed with information and strategies bolstered by expertise and vetted research:
