2017 Roeder Scholarship Application Now Available

Applications for the 2017 Joseph Roeder Scholarship are now available on the
NIB website. Criteria for the scholarship, which provides a one-time award
of $2,500 for an individual who is blind, has been expanded to include
students pursuing a college degree in a business-related field.

 

The scholarship is named for Joe Roeder, senior accessible technology
specialist at NIB from 1997 until his death in 2010. Roeder was instrumental
in the development of the Section 508 electronic and information technology
accessibility standards of the Rehabilitation Act, which require all federal
government agencies to provide accessible data and information for employees
with disabilities.

Eligible candidates must: 

*	Be legally blind
*	Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a
degree in a business-related field
*	Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than
6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, May 5, 2017. The winner will be announced in June
2017.
