Hello,

Last Saturday I sent out a notice of travel services available to citizens of Northern Virginia through the Columbia Light House (CLB).

Through an Arlington County grant, there are a series of additional services offered by the Columbia Light House for the Blind available to those who live in Arlington County.  See below.

There may be those of you who may wish to take advantage of these services.

Subject: Services for Arlington County Residents

We provide the following services to Arlington County residents:
Case Management to include Support Groups
Daily Living Skills- Instruct individuals or groups in techniques used for: personal grooming (making a bed and personal hygiene), communication skills which includes braille training and home management skills (budgeting and meal planning).
O&M Training - Individual travel training in their home, neighborhood or community.
Low Vision Services - Low Vision Exams to individuals experiencing vision loss.
Volunteer Services - Personal volunteer to assist with reading mail or community events.
Deaf-Blind Services - Support Service Providers (SSP) for individuals who have both vision and hearing loss.  SSP's assist with one on one support (reading mail, community events and independent living skills) for deaf-blind individuals.
Assistive Technology Services - Individual or group training on smart phone, computer training and low vision aids and devices.
