Potomac Chapter Meeting: March 11, 2021, 7:00 PM:
*** Please note: This will be an abbreviated meeting due to member interest in listening to President Biden’s speech marking what is generally deemed the anniversary of the nation’s shutdown due to COVID-19. Since it is believed that this will take place at 8:00 PM, this month’s meeting will be short and efficient.**
You know the drill by now, right?

Agenda:
Shortly after 7:00 PM: Who’s on? For efficiency’s sake, I will ask for the number of participants and for the host to let us know who is in attendance.
7:10 PM: Please review minutes and Treasurer’s report so that we can approve or adjust quickly.
7:15 PM: Social Activities and Programs Committee:
The committee is proposing that we explore and discuss contemporary issues facing guide dog users. This is a subject with many facets; so the committee will be asking for what topics and questions will engage you. Please assist them in their efforts. (Note that at the time of our meeting, a presentation by our Guide Dog User’s Division will be taking place. We can reach out and have a similar presentation at our April meeting, focus on particular interests brought forward by the members, or . . . and be upfront, let us know if you have other ideas for April’s presentation, or for presentations going forward. We need you to let us know what you want to hear about.)

7:25: Presentation by our own Kassahun:
Kassahun will discuss his involvement with the blind community in Ethiopia, where he has been an integral part in ensuring their success as blind individuals. This includes not only the essential physical supplies such as canes and slate and styluses (many of which have been received upon donation), but the necessary mentality it takes to advocate for that success, especially in a country where disability is a foreign entity. The notion that disability is not a death sentence and that with with hard work and determination, they too can live the lives they want is Kassahun’s passion. When time and travel have allowed, Kassahun has flown home to distribute this wealth.

7:40 PM: Fund-raising with Food: When and from whom?
7:50 PM: Dues, Elections at April Meeting, Voting Procedure
7:55: Pledge and Adjourn
** We may not get to everything on the agenda, and there are some important updates, specifically regarding our successful Richmond seminar. Please send any questions, comments, etc., following the meeting as you may find necessary. Also, please remember to participate in the affiliate chapter survey which was recently sent out.
