Minutes



President Christine Grassman called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM on Zoom and at St. George’s Episcopal Church. The meeting began with introductions. 

There was a motion to approve the minutes, and it was seconded. The minutes were approved. 

Then there was a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. After a second, the report was adopted by the chapter.



Deepa Goraya, social committee chair, discussed some future chapter events. There will be a whine tasting in the next month, and Deepa asked the chapter to assist her in searching for venues. 

Braden Flax introduced a philosophy topic for the chapter to discuss together. The chapter discussed responses to members of the public telling us we are inspirational because we are blind.



President Grassman provided some updates on the upcoming state convention. She encouraged members to sign up for the CPR and Choking Intervention course she is facilitating. She also asked for volunteers to help welcome new members and staff the presidential suite at convention.

President Grassman then reminded everyone about the voting rights event at Arlington Central Library on October 15th. The event is specifically designed for people with disabilities to learn about how to get registered and what they can expect when voting this year. 

President Grassman explained the Websites and Software Applications Accessibility Act. The chapter discussed the new bill and the need for everyone to contact their senators and representatives and ask for their support.

On Julie’s behalf, President Grassman reminded everyone to donate items for door prizes at the state convention. She then reminded those attending the Hayride and Bonfire event to meet at Buttler’s Orchard before 8:00 PM on October 14th. 

The meeting was adjourned around 8:30 PM.
