** I am going to take the time over the next week or so to summarize the absolutely phenomenal presentation Dr. Jean Parker gave at our February meeting. It deserves to be shared beyond that evening. The link to her book, which expands on much of what she discussed, is in the minutes. It is available on Bookshare. If anyone is aware of other accessible sources, let me know and I will post the information.**

Potomac Chapter Meeting Minutes: February 8, 2023
The meeting was called officially to order at approximately 7:06. There were between 25 and 39 individuals on the call at different times during the meeting.
Attendees were asked to share what resilience means to them; five individuals did so.
The minutes and Treasurer’s reports were accepted.

President Grassman reminded all of upcoming elections and appointed the Nominating Committee: Chairperson Patricia Droppers, and Sandy Halverson and Nancy Yeager.
Auditing Committee: Chairperson, John Halverson; Sean McMahon, Gary Grassman.
Dr. Jean Parker then started her presentation on resilience.

She provided a wealth of excellent information and strategies which she termed an overview, and stated that much of the advice given could take up presentations of their own.
Dr. Parker’s book can be found at Bookshare.org:

Following Dr. Parker’s presentation, Bonnie O’Day provided a rundown of Richmond Seminar, and First Vice-President Deepa Goraya did the same for Washington Seminar. Affiliate President Tracy Soforenko supplemented their information, and reminded us that bills often do not pass their first year in Virginia.
Board Member LeRoy Hansen gave an update on the Audio Pedestrian Signal survey for Arlington County. There were approximately 40 participants so far. President Grassman reminded those who had not yet filled it out to do so, and Joe Hobson provided an impassioned statement regarding the absurdity of the county’s troubling treatment of this important issue.
Joe Hobson recited the NFB pledge.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:38.
