Subject: August 14,, 2024 PCNFB Chapter Meeting
Good afternoon members and friends. Wednesday, August 14, 2024 is our next NFBV Potomac Chapter meeting at 7 p.m. in person at St. George's Episcopal Church and over our affiliate Zoom link or phone number. June seems a long time ago when we met in person and on Zoom and tomorrow, we will again meet in person and over Zoom.
I am pleased that Julie Orozco has offered to lead a philosophy discussion which I'm sure will be lively and thought-provoking. In addition to recent national and our upcoming state conventions, we will learn about blind cricket from one of our members who will be checking this out for us and reporting later if possible; if not, we will learn about his experience at our September meeting.
Our state board met on August 3 and we will be talking about transportation to Portsmouth, Virginia for our upcoming state convention from October 31 to November 3. Please give thought to something you would like us to do during Blind Equality Achievement Month and I'm sure there will be other agenda items that you may have.
I look forward to seeing many of you and your friends in addition to people we haven't seen for a while and hope all will be able to join us on August 14.
I welcome questions, suggestions, and would love to chat with potential new members and can be reached at 703-400-6890 or at sjh300 at outlook.com<mailto:sjh300 at outlook.com>.
Walking instructions from the Virginia Square Metro Stop to the Church
As you leave the Virginia Square escalator, turn 180 degrees and walk to Fairfax Drive. Turn left and walk to Nelson Street. Cross Nelson with Fairfax on your right and even though Nelson has little traffic, there is a traffic signal at this intersection. After crossing Nelson Street, continue for an additional block with Fairfax Drive on your right, you will reach Oakland Street. Turn left on Oakland Street and take an almost immediate left in to a small parking lot. Knock on the door and someone will let you in the Church.
Note, if you are coming by car to the meeting, let the driver know that the door you want is labeled 1 and is next to a mailbox.
