Helow Members, Friends and Colleagues,

Our Potomac Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind is meeting Wednesday April 8 at 7:00 PM at the Saint Georges Episcopal Church. It is located at 915 North Oakland Street, Arlington, Virginia.

The meeting will be in person and on Zoom. The Zoom information and instructions for walking from the Virginia Metro stop are below.

We have an exciting agenda for this month's meeting.

I want to thank LeRoy Hansen for arranging our speakers.

We will have two Transportation Engineering and Operations (TE&O) staff from the Arlington County Transportation Department presenting. They are Joshua Nicholas, Assistant Bureau Chief for TE&O, and Andrew Hayes, Acting Signals Manager for TE&O. They are both very knowledgeable of the audible signal technology used in Arlington.

Our expectations are that they identify what the county can and cannot do, what it is currently doing and plans to do, and list actions we in the chapter might take to help Arlington move forward.

I suggest that we all focus on county-level issues. Any particular problems that individuals are dealing with and would like to see changed can be reported to those in the county who monitor and repair audible traffic signals. Arlington county has a web site individuals can go to report a problem. It is called, Report a Problem.

See you tomorrow.

John Halverson, Ph.D., Corresponding Secretary
