Hi John. I received the email below from Joshua Nickols, one of the Arlington county traffic engineers that spoke at our chapter meeting. He has provided contact information for traffic offices in surrounding jurisdictions, which some members may want to take advantage of. He also mentions steps Arlington county will be taking to address four locations that individuals were concerned about.

Please circulate this to the chapter. LeRoy

Dear Mr. Hansen,
Thank you for your patience and apologies for the delay in response. In that time, we have now completed the required field visits, identified a path forward, and begun the project processes of addressing the issues you and the Potomac Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind brought to us during our meeting in April. Below, I am pleased to share an update on those items.
1. I did inquire with our counterparts in the inter-agency meeting regarding the best way for the residents to request accessible pushbuttons or issues with accessibility in our neighboring Virginia jurisdictions. All of the jurisdictions mentioned that requesters should use their established request for service portals, but some mentioned the coordinator from VADBVI as being the best option. For your convenience, I have included the links to the relevant portals below:
1. Arlington: https://www.arlingtonva.us/Government/Topics/Report-Problem
2. Alexandria City: https://www.alexandriava.gov/Alex311
3. Falls Church City: https://www.fallschurchva.gov/requesttracker.aspx
4. Fairfax City: https://www.fairfaxva.gov/Services/Fairfax-City-Resolve
5. Fairfax County: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicworks/report
6. VDOT Northern Virginia: https://my.vdot.virginia.gov/
2. All of the utility location and field visits have been completed for the locations discussed in the meeting. However, each of these locations require additional work to bring them into compliance with PROWAG. We've ordered survey for each location, but anticipate those taking 4-5 months to complete. Once we have completed surveys, we will add them to the Traffic Signal Upgrades website linked here<https://www.arlingtonva.us/Government/Projects/Project-Types/Transportation-Projects/Traffic-Signal-Upgrades>. For your reference, these locations are:
1. Fern and 23rd St S (Report a Problem Ticket: 259090)
2. Wilson and George Mason Drive (Report a Problem Ticket: 259088)
3. In addition to the locations above, we are working on three push-button retrofit projects along Columbia Pike, at S. Monroe Street, S. Glebe Road, and S. Highland Street. Construction is underway now, but we will probably finish these three locations by the fall.

If you or other members of the Potomac Chapter have any questions or follow up regarding either the pending RAP tickets or new submissions, please reach out through the C3 team at DES-TEO at arlingtonva.us<mailto:DES-TEO at arlingtonva.us>. If they would like to request new locations for pushbuttons, they can utilize the Report-a-Problem system or email DES-TEO at arlingtonva.us<mailto:DES-TEO at arlingtonva.us> and we can put the request in for them.
Thanks,

Joshua Nicholas, PE
