MINUTES OF THE WINCHESTER CHAPTER OF THE N.F.B.

January 21, 2023

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President James Shobert, at
10:00 AM. including members and guests, there were nine folks
present.

James Shobert led our members in the NFB Pledge.

The Ice-Breaker this month, involved officialy recognizing several of
our longest serving Chapter members. Lois Everline ( currentely our
longest member), Jim and Mary Green, and Janet Lincoln were recognized
for their long service.

Janet Lincoln read the minutes of the previous meeting. They were
approved as read.

There was no formal Treasurers Report, due to Jim Walker being unable
to attend the meeting. He was still in the hospital due to a Heart
opperation a month ago. We had a minute of silence with thoughts and
prayers for his return to health.

At this point, we voted to make an official position of Assistent to
the Treasurer, and install Jacki Brown in that office. She could now
assume the full powers of the Treasurer until Jim Walker returned.

Earlier in January our Chapter Board had agreed over the phone, to
donate $2,000 from the Charlie Brown Fund, to the Walkers to cover
some of their expenses while Jim was in the hospital. In accordence
with the Board's wishes, Chris said that he had withdrawn that money
into their personal account. Since that drew our Chapter checking
account down, he moved $4,000 from the Chapter money market account,
into the Chapter checking account.

No Technology Committee report was given, as we had not heard from Wayne Williams.

James Shobert gave a Communications Committee report. After the
feed-back loops at a full-Chapter meeting last Fall( see prier
minuts), the committee had been looking for a better service provider.

James reported that the NFBV said their service agreement with the
Zoom folks, would cover our chapter for our meetings. They checked
and reported that no one else was presently using our venu. Hoping
that were still the case, we voted to make the switch to Zoom. James
said he would double check to be sure. If things were OK, he would
accept their offer and block the third Saturday morning time from ten
AM until eleven-thirty each month.

James then told us about the high points of this months Presidential
Report. Among other things, he mentioned a number of bills and goals,
the NFB National Office was interested in getting passed. He, Chris
and Jacki all stressed the importence of everybody contacting our
representatives to let them know our wishes.

Looking ahead and knowing the Walkers still might not be able to help
or even attend, we made some desisions. First, we all agreed the
Chapter would not have a float in this year's Apple Blossom Parade.
Nobody had any interest in attending the National Convention this
summer in Houston Texas.

But a number of folks wanted to set up a Chapter table at the WMC
Health fair, in the Apple Blossom Mall. We would man a table between
eleven AM, and five-thirty PM. James would see who was available and
take care of registration, if we had the folks needed to fill the
time.

Chapter members asked Chris how he was getting along with Jim being in
the hospitel. Did he need help with meals or anything else? He said
the grant from the Chapter would take away a lot of financial stress,
and folks from other service organizations such as the lions were
giving him rides and often meals. He said he was posting most of
these things on the Chapter's FaceBook page. Some folks responded
that they had no FaceBook, or a computer at all.

It was decided that we would start relying on use of the phone. Janet
Lincoln volunteered to be our phone contact. Every month, eight days
before the meeting, she would call members with a reminder that the
meeting date was nearly upon us. This would even help the FaceBook
users.

The meeting adjourned at around 11:30 AM.

Respectively submitted,
Jim Green

Recording Secretary
