[NFBV-Winchester] National convention information

Hello Chapter Family and Friends,

If you plan on attending the national convention this year in New Orleans
then here are some important dates and info to consider:

-January 1: Hotel open for reservations
-March 1: Convention registration opens
-March 31: Scholarship application closes
-April 15: Dr. Jacob Bolotin Award application, Kenneth Jernigan Convention
Scholarship application, and McDonald Fellowship closes
-May 1: Deadline to submit nominations for the Blind Educator of the Year
Award and the Distinguished Educator of Blind Students Award
-July 8: Convention begins!

The convention will be located at New Orleans Marriott
555 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130 from July 8th-13th. With overflow at
the Sheraton New Orleans located across the street.

Registration for the convention will be $25 (if early registration is used)
and the banquet dinner is $85. I will send out a separate email when
convention registration is open.

I recommend any first time participants to apply for both the McDonald and
Kenneth Jernigan first time attendees assistance. This will not only
provide some financial assistance (It will not cover the entire cost, and
you can't win both but you can, and are encouraged to apply for both) but
will allow you to be paired with a mentor familiar with the national
convention dynamic and can help with planning and guidance at convention.

Note that the chapter will be providing financial assistance for our
members (Only a portion will be covered). Also the amount and specifics of
the assistance will be decided at our March meeting Saturday March 15th.
