Subject: Materials in Advance of Monday's NFBV Board Meeting
To: Soforenko, Tracy <tsoforenko at nfb.org>
Hi NFBV Board Officers, Delegates and Alternates largely expected at
Monday’s meeting,
Please know that I included emails as blind carbon copy so people do not
reply to all.
We are excited to be with you on Monday afternoon, January 20 at our NFBV
Board meting. Separately, we will distribute the agenda on Virginia
announce along with the Richmond Seminar fact sheet.
However, we have some items to provide to you in advance so you can review
these materials before we vote on them.
1. Accommodation Policy – Largely the same as our national accommodation
policy, this document says we will accommodate people with disabilities
just as we would expect to be accommodated. This is very similar to our
national policy and it is a requirement for every state affiliate. We
recognize this will require us to be better prepared and if there is a big
expense, the affiliate will assist.
2. Greater Loudoun Chapter Constitution – The Greater Loudoun Chapter
is requesting a new chapter charter. They have provided their constitution
which I have attached. They have collected dues from members, and elected
officers. We will not be reading the constitution at the meeting but know
it is largely the same as the model constitution. We will gladly address
questions at the meeting and Sandy will be ready to read any specific
component of the constitution if requested.
?We will also be voting on the donation in support of the Blind Prisoners
litigation first raised at the August 2024 Board meeting and discussed at
our state convention.
Finally, we will be voting on a number of other topics such as any
perception of conflict of interest since we have some board delegates who
are also independent contractors for our programs.
If you are the alternate delegate, you can vote if the delegate is not
present. At the beginning of the meeting, we will be clarifying who is
voting.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
