Sorry I'm a little late on this.</span><br><span></span><br><span>See you Saturday.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Jim</span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span>MINUTES OF THE WINCHESTER</span><br><span>CHAPTER OF THE N.F.B.</span><br><span></span><br><span>August 21, 2021</span><br><span></span><br><span>The meeting was called to order by President Chris Walker at 10:005</span><br><span>AM. including phone attendees, there were 13Members present . For</span><br><span>some reason, having two members on the phone made it difficult for</span><br><span>them to hear us. We will take another look at Zoom.</span><br><span></span><br><span>It was good to see our two newest members present, Ann Cook and James</span><br><span>Gilbert. but sad to say we got James' name wrong . His last name is</span><br><span>Shobert.</span><br><span></span><br><span>We did have two guests, Danny and Jo Miller. We gave them a brief</span><br><span>overview of the NFB. At opportune times during the meeting we told</span><br><span>them about our Chapter activities and finances. we hope to see them</span><br><span>again.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Several members spoke in remembrance of Charlie Brown. We had a</span><br><span>moment of silence in his honor.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Chris Walker led our members in the NFB Pledge.</span><br><span></span><br><span>We had an Ice-breaker minute, introducing ourselves. We were asked to</span><br><span>tell our favorite thing or activity for Summer.</span><br><span></span><br><span>The idea of setting up a Charlie Brown Memorial Fund, that could be</span><br><span>used for basics adaptive tools for blind folks who needed some help,</span><br><span>was brought up. we voted to do this, with the sum of $2,000 per year</span><br><span>as a limit. Also in this motion , we elected to increase the two</span><br><span>student scholarships from $1,000, to $2,000. The motion was made and</span><br><span>passed.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Jim Walker read the minutes from the June meeting. Except for James'</span><br><span>last name, they were approved as read.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Jim Walker gave the Financial Report for the past two months. It was</span><br><span>approved.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Chris Walker told us about the last NFBV Board meeting. All the</span><br><span>programs are coming along for next year.</span><br><span></span><br><span>We talked briefly about the NFBV State Convention. this one will be</span><br><span>an in-person event, but it still will be accessible via the Zoom</span><br><span>platform.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Chris reminded us the Chapter elections will be held next month.</span><br><span>Anyone interested in holding an office had better start their campaign</span><br><span>soon.</span><br><span></span><br><span>We discussed the "Walk with a Blind Person," event, scheduled for</span><br><span>October 9Th. It is to be part of the "Meet the blind," month. We are</span><br><span>leaning toward having a table on the Loudoun Street Walking Mall, and</span><br><span>passing out NFB hand-outs.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Chris told us that Access Independence has reached out to our Chapter.</span><br><span>They would like to have a closer relationship with us.
