[nfbwatlk] Purchasing A KNFB Reader Mobile?

Lauren,
There are other channels for purchasing the KNFB Reader. I'm sure you have
seen my posts over the last year regarding the Mobile Reader including
Updates, Command Summary, and support. Next Level Assistive Technology has
been distributing the KNFB mobile reader from its inception and we continue
to do so in WA, OR, ID, and Hi. I will not advertise pricing on this list,
but you are certainly welcome to visit our website to learn more:
http://nextlevelat.com/KNFBReader.html
There are several reasons to go through a local distributor rather than a
national. We have employees all over the region that can personally meet
with you for a free in home demo, training, or tech support issues. A
national dealer cannot match our service or pricing.
If you are not familiar with who we are, here is some info about Next Level:
We are located in Vancouver, WA and specialize in technology solutions for
those with visual impairments and learning disabilities.
Michael Hooks, president and founder, has over ten years of experience
teaching and working in the field of blindness and low vision. He is a
certified teacher of the visually impaired and holds an advanced degree in
Assistive Technology from Northern Illinois University. Michael worked as
an assistive technology specialist and teacher at the Washington State
School for the Blind for seven years and has been an adjunct instructor in
the graduate programs for teachers of the visually impaired at Northern
Illinois University and Portland State University.
"I have spent my entire professional career providing services in all phases
of education and rehabilitation to the blind and visually impaired. I'm
passionate about assistive technology and I am dedicated to helping people
reach their goals. I will continue my efforts to help enable those who are
visually impaired to function in the world on a level playing field through
the use of assistive technology, education, training, and awareness.
Legally blind since birth, I have taken advantage of the monumental advances
in assistive technology and incorporated them into my daily life. If you or
someone you love is dealing with a visual impairment, I can help."
Best regards,
Michael P. Hooks, M.S. Ed.

Hi everyone!
Attached is a very important, passionate about its content, and well
intended letter that I am sending out as a concerned member of my
community who just happens to teach children who attend Oregon's School
for the Blind.
If you do not wish to forward this, please know that I completely
understand.
However, if you forward this letter (or better yet, write one yourself)
via email, to any ten people, who either live in Oregon or may know
someone who lives in Oregon, please include them in your group email.
If we all contact just 10 people who are likely to have one or two
contacts within Oregon, then we have the chance to notify many who could
contact our House of Reps. about this "rush-job" bill that will forever
hurt some really great kids who count on their direct support system to
watch out for them.
Thanks,
Alicia (Ali) Edwards (formerly Fruehauf)

Good morning everyone:
The following is action we need all of you to take concerning our Talking
Book and Braille Library.
Over the past 24 hours it has come to our attention that in the House budget
that came out on Tuesday, the Secretary of State's Office took an $11
million budget cut in state funds, which amounts to about 30% to 40% of
their total budget. This cut to their budget could have the potential of
severely impacting the Washington State Library and the Washington Talking
Book and Braille Library.
Please take a little time today to call the legislative hotline at (800)
562-6000 and leave a message for your Senator and Representatives to please
restore funding to the Secretary of State's Office to ensure that library
services are preserved, to include the services of the Washington Talking
Book and Braille Library.
Continue to watch the WCB list and our 800 line for budget updates impacting
DSB and the Washington state School for the Blind.

Well, the men from Seattle finally got another win today. The final
score was 2-0 against Minnesota. Jerrod Washburn went 8 innings, and
Brandon Morrow, after scaring me with a four pitch walk, settled down to
save the win by striking out two, and causing the last batter to fly out
to Franklin Gutierrez in center field. Apparently, Gutierrez made 9 put
outs in center field today.
Hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Fellow listers:
I called MLB this morning and it turns out that if one goes to
http://www.mlb.com and uses the "log in" link to log in, then goes to
http://www.mlb.com/mediacenter and thence to the game and feed of
choice, the system works. As a matter of fact, the Flash content is
partially accessible: one can see the "log out" link even though the
"log in" link isn't accessible if one goes to the Media Center and
player directly. Go figure. (grin)

Greetings, fellow list participants!
On April 21, I will be entering Southwest Washington Medical Center here
in
Vancouver for a colon resection to ensure that all cancerous tissue
surrounding a cancerous pollup discovered during a recent colonoscopy is
removed. I am told that cure is virtually certain. I will be in the
hospital for five or six days and convalescing at home for several weeks
thereafter. I am told that I will be fully recovered by the time of the
national convention in July.
Assuming I'm not drugged to the gills and that there is wi-fi capability
in
the hospital, I will endeavor to communicate via email from the
hospital. If
not, I'll be back in the land of the computer-living when I return home.
I
shall see to it that you are informed how things went as soon as is
practical.

Thank you. I think Lauren's doctor's comment is appropriate; I suspect
if more peple were regularly checked, there would be far fewer fatal
consequences.
I'm not looking forward to being carved upon but it's better than the

Thanks. Yup; I'll make it just fine.
Wonder how we could parlay this into an affiliate fund-raiser?

Yee haw!
It'll be interesting to see if I stil have my appendix when I wake up?
Usually they take that, too, but that's not the part of the colon
that'll be resected.
Thanks.

Mike,
All the best with this procedure.
You're a tough guy who's not going to let this get in his way, and I'm
certain you'll be cured.
In fact, when you're doing this colon procedure, ask the doctors the
following question and see what they tell you.
If adults have colons, does that mean that kids have semi-colons?

I
shall see to it that you are informed how things went as soon as is
practical.

All in all, a 2-2 split in Minnesota isn't bad at all. We'll see how they do
in Oakland, it would be nice to take two out of three, and come home for the
home opener 4-3. I know, dream on.

Hi,
When I had my gallbladder removed, they took my appendix too. So you never
know; they might just go snippety-snip on your appendix.
Thanks

Thank you. I think Lauren's doctor's comment is appropriate; I suspect if
more peple were regularly checked, there would be far fewer fatal
consequences.
