Dear Dr. B.,
I am currently a MSW co-hort in the Extended Degree Program. Recently I was contacted to participate in a Test Survey that Sound Transit is doing regarding "Talking Signs" technology. They are still looking for qualified participants. It involves a pre-survey, an appointment which would introduce the technology and take participants through a tour of the system and give them a chance to "test" the system. Then the participants are given the Infrared Talking sign Scanner to take and use on their own for 4-6 weeks and give feedback to the program analysts.
This is being sponsored by the US DOT and to my knowledge, Seattle is one of the first on the west coast to try it. The transit stations currently equipped with the technology are limited, but hopes are that there will be additional funding after the pilot analysis.
Perhaps some of your DO IT web-users, Secondary Educators or other network collaborators could pass the word that there is still room for participation in
this ground-breaking pilot test. If you would like to pass this info on to your constituents the info is as follows:
