Hello All,
We had a great meeting on Saturday and truly appreciate the attendance
of Mike Freeman our affiliate president. The meeting started with
introductions and telling sharing which candy bar they had brought.
Yep, our members were asked to bring their favorite candy bar. During
introductions, they told which candy bar they had brought and why. At
the end of the meeting, we drew a number and the person holding that
number took the entire of bag of candy home with them... or at least
that was the idea. Mary Helen Schrieber was the winner and she turned
around and sold each candy bar for a $1 and raised $10 for the
chapter. Go Mary Helen.
Doug gave our treasuerer's report and Noel gave a report on the
Braille Challenge that will be happening around the state. Rita talked
about the happening of the King County Elections Disability Advisory
Committee and Mike Freeman gave an update on the happenings of the
state. We also listened to the Presidential Release and reviewed the
Book Fair that happened at the begining of the month. I gave a short
overview of the history of Braille and butchered the French names
mercilessly.
We had our annual elections and the results are as follows:
President: Kris Lawrence (soon to be Colcock)
1st Vice President: Rita Sazntay
Snd Vice President: Kay Burrows
Treasuerer: Doug Johnson
Secretary: Marci Carpenter
Board Member #1: Mike Mello
Board Member #2: James Jannings
We also talked about the upcoming Wine Tasting at E.B. Foote Winery on
March 14th. Cost of admitance is $20 for non-members and $15 for NFB
members. Details will be coming out soon.
It was well attended and we had two new attendees, Drew Davis and
Kelly O'Brian. Welcome to them and I look forward to seeing them at
our meetings on a regular basis.
See you all soon!
Kris Lawrence
