Community Transit Will Adjust Service Feb. 8
Thu, 29 Jan 2009 02:00:00 -0600
Snohomish County, Wash. - Community Transit will make changes to three routes in north Snohomish County starting in February. Local Routes 201 and 230 will have changes starting Sunday, Feb. 8; changes to commuter Route 422 between Stanwood and Seattle start Monday, Feb. 9. There also will be some time changes on a number of local routes.
In addition to the changes on Feb. 8 and 9, Community Transit will open its new Mountlake Terrace Transit Center on Feb. 23. The agency will be working with passengers to transition from the interim park & ride spaces and stops in central Mountlake Terrace to the transit center, located at 236th Street SW and I-5.
For the service change starting Feb. 8, Route 201 between Smokey Point and Lynnwood will begin weekday southbound trips at the old Smokey Point Transit Center, just west of the current start point at 174th Street NE and Smokey Point Boulevard. This change gives passengers a sheltered waiting area. There is no public parking at the old Smokey Point Transit Center.
Route 201 weekend trips still will start at the Stillaguamish Senior Center and will not serve the Smokey Point Transit Center. Buses will continue to serve the stop at 174th and Smokey Point Boulevard.
In addition, Route 201 northbound trips will continue to the Stillaguamish Senior Center via the same streets as Routes 200 and 202.
Route 230, between Smokey Point and Arlington, also will begin its eastbound trips at the old Smokey Point Transit Center, also providing a sheltered waiting area for passengers.
Route 422 between Stanwood and downtown Seattle will change its afternoon route through Seattle due to planned construction later this year on the Pike Street ramp to the I-5 express lanes. Buses will continue north on Pike Street to Olive Way, then Howell Street and onto the express lanes on-ramp there. Stops will be added Fifth and Olive, Ninth and Howell and Yale and Howell.
Community Transit service that will have time changes of less than five minutes include Routes 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 118 and 119. Service that will have changes ranging from five to 10 minutes include Routes 110, 200, 201, 202, 221 and 222. See the Bus Plus schedule books or go to www.communitytransit.org for complete schedules and new times.
Two minor changes are planned for Sound Transit service beginning Feb. 8. Route 513 will end at Hewitt and Virginia in Everett. This route no longer will serve Everett Station. Route 532 will add two stops in Everett: northbound at 33rd and Broadway and southbound at 34th and Broadway.
Community Transit strives to help Puget Sound commuters think transit first. With 64 local and commuter bus routes and one of the nation's largest vanpool programs, the agency is a leader in finding new ways to make alternative transportation an attractive option. Call Community Transit at (425) 353-RIDE or (800) 562-1375 for bus information, or (888) 814-1300 for carpool or vanpool information, or go to www.communitytransit.org.
