ENTRY LEVEL JOB IN IT: Help Desk Support Specialist

Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in desktop support. Looking for growth opportunity.
Personnel selected for performance in this task must be oriented toward
customer service and thoroughly trained and experience in supporting
desktops and laptops running Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS including hardware
(both computers and peripherals) and software installation, mobile devices,
infrastructure connectivity including LAN and WAN, and configuration and
trouble shooting.
In addition, the candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite,
security software, Internet browsers, and has experience in installing,
upgrading and removing hardware and software. The candidate must have good
communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers.
Working knowledge of Windows and Mac required with entry level network
management experience.
Must be familiar with client support environment and site licensed software.
Duties:
The Help Desk Support Specialist will serve as the initial point of contact
for troubleshooting of PC and Mac hardware/software, peripherals and
networking problems. The Specialist will provide general user support that
includes troubleshooting individual machine problems (memory and power
supply failure, disk crash, loss of connection to the network, printing
problems, software problems, email, file folder access and permission,
etc.). User support will also cover setting up and configure individual new
and used computers and laptops to meet security requirements such as
encryption, anti-virus, and security patches as well as for accessing to
wireless and wired network and Internet. Some assistance will also be
provided to users in the operation of computers and common applications such
as word processing, email, Internet browsers, spreadsheets, imaging, as well
as site licensed software, etc.
In addition, the Help Desk Support Specialist will provide operational
support to maintain and deploy software upgrades, anti-virus protection and
security patches under the direction of the Office Administrator and./or the
IT Consultant(s). The technician will also provide support for network
connectivity including:
- trouble shooting and patching in LAN closets
- maintenance and management of data and fileservers for users including
creating file folders, setting up user access and permissions, etc.
- evaluate new versions of software and hardware.
You will be working with a contractual IT team that provides additional
support to the company. Their role is to manage the networks, information
security systems, etc., at a distance. You would be the internal PC support
person working directly with employees of the company, as needs arise.
